List of names compiled by staff and volunteers of the Denton Public Library. The names were taken from the 1890 Denton County Tax Rolls, the 1890-91 State Gazetteer & Business Directory, and a few deed records. Please note that there will be some duplication and misspellings due to poor or illegible handwriting. Please contact the department for scanned images.

Digital images from the Texas State Gazetteer and Business Directory, 1890-91. Includes pages from the Gazetteer and Alphabetical Directory for Denton Businesses and the Planters’ and Farmers’ Directory for Denton County, which lists 717 names.

Digital images taken from the 1867 Denton County Poll Tax and 1868 Denton County Tax Roll which lists the names of Freedmen. Four pages total.

Originally owned by Daniel J. Kendall and Novella Norton Kendall who resided in Pilot Point. Daniel was the son of Allen and Elizabeth Brown Kendall. Many of the Kendall family members are buried in the Pilot Point Community Center. Donated by Betty Crockford.
